Who We Are
OMF Cares is the non-profit branch of Operation Military Family, LLC (OMF), a Veteran-owned and operated organization founded by Navy Veteran Michael Schindler, who has dedicated his life to supporting our military families. Michael wrote the book “Operation Military Family”, endorsed by Generals Tommy Franks, Pete Chiarelli, and others, to help military families battle-ready their relationships for the stress of deployment. Through OMF Cares, Mike and the OMF team strive to fulfill their mission to strengthen and enrich service members, Veterans and their families through OMF Cares' programs and events.
Executive Directors: Jay & Kathy Jenkins: Jay is a Navy veteran and his father retired from the Air Force. Kathy is an Army veteran and her father, a veteran of World War II. Jay and Kathy have spent much of the last 13 years studying and teaching different relationship curricula. Their passion is to teach couples; young and old, single or multiple marriages, successful or struggling, about ways to strengthen or improve their relationship. With each of them having a sibling either actively serving in the military or as a spouse having weathered multiple deployments, they filled a personal need to give back to the nation they once swore to defend.
Chief Communications Officer: Carolyn Douglas. Carolyn is a bona-fide Emmy award-winning broadcast news journalist and communications expert with two decades of experience in broadcast news, public speaking, public relations and media consulting. As Chief Communications Officer, she is typically managing the communications risks and opportunities of OMF or making our CEO look pretty. In addition to her work for Operation Military Family, she is principal of Carolyn Douglas Communications (www.carolyndouglas.com), a founding board member for the Alliance for International Women’s Rights (www.aiwr.org), media advisor and host for UWTV (www.uwtv.org), and public speaker for Edgar Martinez’s Image Source (www.imagesourceteam.com). Carolyn earned her degree from Washington State University. When she’s not doing all the above, she is managing her husband and two young children.
